Andy Hong, PhD
Andy Hong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of City & Metropolitan Planning at the University of Utah. He also leads the Healthy Aging and Resilient Places Lab where its mission is to create healthier and more resilient places for everyone across the lifespan. Andy’s research focuses on the connection between the built environment and human health, with a particular emphasis on developing tools and methods to understand challenges related to social and environmental determinants of health. His goal is to work with local communities and stakeholders to co-design equitable and sustainable urban planning and design solutions to promote age-friendly communities. Andy previously held positions at the University of Oxford, the George Institute for Global Health, the University of British Columbia, and the Korea Transport Institute. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Southern California and his graduate and undergraduate studies at the University of Washington.

Anna Maki | Graduate Research Assistant
Anna Maki is a graduate student at the University of Utah's Master of City & Metropolitan Planning program. She has spent her academic career working on and specializing in transportation planning projects, with an emphasis in equity and accessibility. Recent projects include the creation of a campus walkability audit, an active transportation toolkit for the GNAR Initiative, and a bike equity program at the University of Utah. Her research focus is on active transportation and its implications for the health, safety, and equity of society.
She specializes in transportation planning with an emphasis on sustainability and active transportation.
